Denys Davydov on YouTube speculates that the Russians have informants in the Ukrainian armed forces, even pretty high up.
I mean, it's quite likely, given the penetration Russia had in Ukraine before the war, and the arrests that have come to light recently. But fundamentally, some of the hits we're seeing don't need informants. The main reason I don't like the reasoning that it's informants that are responsible for the kills is that even if informants are responsible for one kill, deep drone infiltration and short kill-chain is responsible for some of them. And pretending that those don't exist will harm Ukraine's response to those strikes.

The US and Israel are still talking about sending Israel's retiring Patriot batteries to Ukraine in some fashion, along with their stockpile of missiles for them. Would certainly be a big boost to Ukraine's air defences. Iran's increasing ties to Russia might be one factor that pushes Israel to do it.

The Israelis don't need them and the fact that they've kept them in storage for so long is a fucking travesty.

Yep, wholeheartedly agree. I'd be tempted to directly tie it to their desire for new F-15s, as in no F-15EXs until all of the retired Patriots are in Ukraine.

tbh considering how many Israelis hold dual Russian nationality and harbor sympathies to Russia, Israel should be considered entirely suspect. Tech sales/shares/transfers need to be monitored much more closely now.

about those patriots in specific though...

They have M901 Launching Stations and MPQ-53 Radar Stations. They can employ Standard, PAC-1, PAC-2, and GEM. The radar might be able to be upgraded, but it won't be worth upgrading the launchers to M903. The systems are very very old. You basically have to throw away a bunch of things but they are still good it's just they are again very old. They can do mostly AAW and some limited BMD stuff.
