Post Political Cartoons Here

Let me make the comment that brain worms, usually, do not look like caterpillars missing their legs. This article gives a few names to usual suspects, which you can Image Search on to get a more realistic view of brain worms (they still are kinda cute, as long as you don't look too closely at their life-cycles and mouthes):

But for the purpose of humor I'll accept the caterpillar-like brain worm in the above cartoon (also, I only noticed the tail in the third panel now).

Been following this story pretty closely, mainly because I have personally been affected by buggy accounting software.

Look at the damage this has caused... Then think about social media platforms, where bugs do not cause easy-to-track numerical issues. If it takes 10 years to get to the bottom of accounting software problems, what kind of damage is social media possibly causing?

IIUC, the postal scandal is largely due to willful ignorance of leadership combined with poor quality software and the strong urge not to admit and correct harmful mistakes, correct? In the case of social media, some of the largest players employed experts such as industrial psychologists to create the mess, which was fine for them as long profits are rolling in, irrespective of societal costs.

Just wait until AI has taken over and the code is also doing our thinking for us.

Can see the sentiment, but the Iwo Jima Memorial may be the wrong choice. The draft was in force during World War II, and unlike Vietnam, most people were extremely willing to serve—even falsifying documents to get around restrictions. Trump's attitude would have been panned at that time.
Except Trump expressed that sentiment about WW2 dead IIRC:

The first example in that story was from World War I: Bellau Wood. Applied the same sentiment to Vietnam veterans, particularly McCain. Per the author, his transactional nature appears to equate military sacrifice with poor monetary payoff, and therefore those peoples are "losers." Based on his own metrics, how can he have a high opinion of himself, due to his multiple bankruptcies? Any neutral assessment of his financial performance would not be kind. An index fund would have handily beaten him. He truly has a warped worldview.

Why would he apply the same standards to himself he applies to everyone else?

I don’t get it 🤷‍♂️
Trump's going to be exiting this criminal trial, into other trials. The Georgia trial is still pending, and while the Mar-A-Lago case is effectively frozen, it could be reopened or re-charged in different venues at any time. Aside from those, there are over a dozen cases already filed where Trump is either a defendant or a potential witness.

If they truly wanted, it's likely that prosecutors could tie up Trump in court for the rest of his life, because he keeps on criming in full view, often in response to being charged with crimes.

Peace in the Middle East. You are here.

As an aside, I couldn't translate Proche Orient in English to the correct Near East, because you English speakers have abandoned that distinction between Near (Lebanon-Israel centered region) and Middle (Persian Gulf centered region) that still exists in French. I had never noticed it, and now I find you weird :).
