I was literally just thinking that the main side characters would make it when Jecki got cut down, and then shortly after Yord had his neck extended.
I really am kind of bitter about both of those. Yord for plot reasons, and Jecki because I really like Dafne Keen. And some of the action will suffer, she's been doing fights like this since she was 12 or whatever. (There are plot reasons for Jecki as well, but while Yord is a good character, I wasn't as attached.)

I do have to say I think both of them were well handled, there was no point at which I thought either character was doomed, so the fact they were suddenly killed had more impact. The un-named Jedi, yeah you knew they were dead, but these were characters we've spent time developing, only to have them just suddenly killed.

At least Bazil is still alive. He may be our last, best chance for hope.

After a rewatch of "Day" and "Night", I'm more suspicious of Sol. I have a bad feeling about him.
Mae's fire didn't kill the witches. Not sure how it went down (some kind of confrontation when Sol went in to save Osha from the fire? Or something else entirely with darker implications for Sol? And were the other three Jedi involved too?), but there's no way there's not more story there.

Episode 7 is also directed by Kogonada (who directed the first Brendok flashback episode), so we might be waiting another week for a full explanation.

I'm kinda wondering if Mother Koril might have snapped and started a coup. She might have mind controlled Torbin and used him to kill a lot of her people, etc. Sol might not have been unwilling to harm Torbin to stop it and/or feels guilty about instigating it and covering it up.

I can't help but feel that Koril is involved somehow. I don't think it's as clear cut as "Jedi kill Witches", and Mae's fire definitely didn't do it, so there's something else to be revealed. But whatever it is, Sol is definitely not clean. I think it's a situation of "Everyone's an asshole". Except for the twins, the sadly departed Jecki, and, of course, Bazil, hero of the Republic.

Not sure I'd say that Mae is clean. Since unless Osha's memories have been tampered with it Mae did at least start the fire outside of Osha's room (which might have been just to burn the diary but also seemed to be to also kill Osha) and locked her in. There's certainly more to what happened in regards to the witches since unless the building was made from the same material that Star Trek computer consoles are made of it seems unlikely that the fire would have spread throughout the whole building like that. Nor would I think it would have killed since it also didn't seem like the place was so engulfed in fire that those inside couldn't have escaped without something else happening.

Mae's issues did not begin with the fire. She was a controlling, clingy jerk long before that. Osha wanted to be her own person and Mae could not grasp that concept. They were two people going in different directions.

They also made a point of showing Sol sensing darkness in her and recoiling when he first meets the twins.

If they were manufactured, perhaps they had to balance out - good v. evil.

That's my assumption. Whatever process the witches used to create them resulted in a light sider and a dark sider. Together, they provide balance which seems to better fit with the witches' more nuanced view of the force/thread.

How did the master come to interact with Mae? Perhaps he was there behind scenes manipulating Koril it in order to get himself the Acolyte he wanted. And he gets the chance to fuck with some Jedi in the process. I mean, how did he know what Sol looked like? He is the only one he called by name. Or did he interact with Sol back on the planet where Torbin was killed?

Well, it should be easy to work out. The evil one is always the one on the left, so just check the scar, and if it's on their right side, they must be the evil one.

I had no idea about the helmet, nor the jacket. But I also never gave it any thought. If ever had to think about it, I probably would have said the jacket was black. But I that's because I just don't remember. It's been a long time.
