I actually had other people make my food this weekend!
I met a friend at a creemee stand and had to order a Long Michigan.
I'm still confused by this, but apparently the
Coney Island moved back east under the name of Michigan. I've only seen this around Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks, but lots of places have a meat sauce that they put on burgers, fries, eggs, etc. and just call it "Michigan sauce" or "Michigan topping". I'd love to find out how this happened.
This one had something close to Flint style chili. Probably lots of organ meat, ground to almost a deviled ham consistency. I approve.
Then I had Sunday breakfast of tamales and chile rellenos. I know this might not mean much to people who live other places, but we don't have much access to real Mexican food in New England. I got to have
an actual Mexican woman serve me tamales at her house, in Vermont. That's just crazy!
And it was good! It was great! She's not actually licensed to have people sit down and eat there, but she let us stay since we were on motorcycles and had no way to easily transport anything. When I do this trip next year, we'll place a big takeout order from her and get someone with a car to pick it up and bring it back to our campground. I'm so glad I found out about her.
