today…

BABY METAL featuring Tim Henson & Scott LePage of Polyphia - Brand New Day
C-c-c-c-c-c-ombo breaker!

View: https://youtu.be/G9li0LFVaGU?si=trom81csWjvd9CbM

Athena XIX - The Conscience of Everything
New single. Power metal.

Skee Mask - Reminscrimx
Another track off the new Skee Mask album. Still ambient electronica, but now we’re seeing a more electronic music component. Actual beats and percussion and some synths. I like it a LOT.

Despite my Shouty German Metal Workout Playlist™ being on shuffle, sometimes my phone seems to develop a sense of theme. Apparently, today's theme was "Improbable cover versions", treating me (and now you ;)) to…

Rammstein's impressively chunky rendition of Kraftwerk's Das Model:

Hämatom & Eisbrecher's Alex Wesselsky taking the wistful 80s electropop of Trio's Da Da Da and turning into, well, definitely not that:

(Video mildly NSFW.)

And Maschinist making an innocuous mid-90s Euro dance hit sound like an exhortation to go out and fuck some shit up…

I don't know if any of you like Professor of Rock, but I like his videos. I watch probably 75% of them even though they are typically 20 minutes long... usually have to watch in multiple sittings. Anyway, this one popped up for today. I haven't watched it, yet, but figured it'd be a good one to post just due to the song it's about (which is "American Pie").

my goals for the week. Even when I’m on vacation, still doing it. Habit, I guess.

The Cost featuring Serj Tankian - Her Eyes
Rock/metal. New band, new(ish) single. Kind dig it.

Karise Eden - Stop Fucking With My Head
Blues-ish. Recommended to me by my mom as some one with a Janis Joplin voice.

Seven Spires - Portrait of Us
Female vocalist, melic/symphonic metal. Off their freshly released album.

A conversation elsewhere caused me to return to the somewhat overlooked album "Zoon" by The Nefilim (Fields of The Nephilim frontman Carl McCoy's very metal single-album side project) which is identifiably a FotN spin-off on some tracks, but when it goes in hard, it really does…

So much new music!
The Warning’s new album dropped. So did Nao Yoshioka’s, but I think it’s more pop heavy than jazz. New hard rock/metal album from Nothing More.
New singles from dArtagnan, Beast In Black, Cory Wong, Ummet Ozcan, Oceans of Slumber…

Much music! Not enough time!
A good weekend for music. Especially as I have 12-15 hours of driving to do tomorrow.

Ummet Ozcan - Night Drive
More electronica from one of my favorites. New single.

Voice of Baceprot - [NOT] Public Property
New-to-me band. A trio of women from Indonesia who play metal. Saw an article saying they were playing at Glastonbury, decided to gove them a listen. This is one of their bigger, original tracks.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjmcZfOlopU

Rishloo - Feathergun in the Garden of the Sun
Shoe gaze rock/metal. I’ve been listening to this album from 2009, and I like it a lot.

Lydia the Bard, featuring Ben Tomalin - Don’t Cry For Your Daughters Eve
She’s mostly a cover artist, but this is one of her original tracks. Off her recent EP, kind of a indie pop/folk feel.

Space 92 - Polaris
Electronica. Leans toward lofi. Off a new single.
