Fixed up some of the "zipline stations" on the way to the residential bunker and filled up some of the log holders near the tower. No longer get tripped up on the higher terrain when taking the zipline to/from the bunker, and there should be less of the flying-off-the-cliff stuff. The natives have been restless, but fortunately Virginia has been pretty good about staying within the vicinity. Just the cannibals, though, strangely hadn't seen any mutants in a bit.

Should be around this weekend if there's anything exciting going on.

I've seen fingers, babies, caterpillars, demons, legsies, and a holey once. Cannibals are more common, but mutants are common enough to not be surprising.

Strength, on the difficulty setting we have, is absurd. I'm in the mid-50s, and can kill a holey in 4 swings of a non-upgraded katana.

My strength is currently in the mid 30s, and I'm chopping trees in 3-4 chops at times, with the being fireman's axe.
Just got over 60, and had my first single swing tree felling. Most of the time, if I aim right, I can fell trees in two swings with the fireman's axe.

Another Saturday night, another session of Helldivers 2 mayhem with @Lt_Storm, @theevilsharpie, and later @AnejoDave. The daily personal mission (complete for bonus medals, which you spend to unlock armor, normal weapons, some buffs, and a bunch of cosmetics) was "kill 30 enemies with the 120mm orbital bombardment". This means, of course, that Storm and sharpie killed a turret that was giving us a bit of trouble, and just as they did, I dropped a 120mm bombardment right on the turret. Right on Storm and sharpie. It was glorious.

Man, I'm only 19 strength. Need to get in the habit of drinking a Greg before chopping trees.
Greg helps, but I've historically been chugging an entire Greg right after getting up in the morning and letting that carry me through the entire day food- and drink-wise. The buff has therefore run out pretty early in the day, so a lot of my strength has just been from felling a lot of trees (strength technically comes from picking up logs or large stones, whether from the ground or out of a holder). My tower on the coast just south of BBB is well over 1K logs now, and all of the stops of the alpine zipline at the original west base are several dozen logs each.

I've been getting more strategic with my food/drink/Greg buff, but that means I'll be getting strength even faster. :biggreen:

Jumped off @cogwheel's tower, found someone's glider in the water by BBB.
Most of the time I'm working on it and monsters attack, I end up using a glider to get down from that tower as well. It's tall enough that you always start gliding before you hit the ground, so it's completely safe, unlike the actual cliffs in the game.

FYI: Xbox gamepass just put in some big items. Diablo 4 (I already own it, and hated what they did with the battlepass, but I did really enjoy it, especially the campaign). I have not played since Season 1 started in July though.

They also added ARK: Survival Ascended edition, which is their latest version that was HD/remade. I really wanted to play ARK again for survival basebuilding, but I told myself i wouldn't until I could get the HD for free. So if you guys play that, I'm hoping to join you there and pop in and out of that server beyond just saturdays.

Wouldn't be opposed to giving D4 another shot at some point. Was personally disappointed after slogging through Season 1, but that may have been because I had chosen to go with a Pyromancer build which apparently was the worst possible choice due to balancing issues at the time. I switched to a Twisting Blades Rogue build for Season 2 and it was better, but then realized I basically had to repeat just about everything I had already done from Season 1 and kinda lost interest. Might be worth another shot in a group setting.

That's kind of what happened to me, but sooner. I played so much those first 30+ days, enjoying the game pre-season 1's release. Got to the end game content, reworked my Druid away from being a lightning elemental caster as it was so weak then, transitioned into a Pulverizing Wave bear druid. Then the Season 1 released, and I had to start all over, and I've only been playing the game for a month. I was so pissed off, and didn't want to slog all over again for a new season. I just wanted new end game content and missions, not restart.

Came across a couple of interesting things. Both follow the old co-op trope: limited to 4 players, which is disappointing, though.

Content Warning, which for some reason gives me Lethal Company vibes, but it is -not- Early Access and appears to be fully fleshed out. Idea is to, I dunno, go in to spooky locations and "film your friends doing scary things to become SpöökTube famous" or something like that. Not sure how the mechanics work there, but just $8 and might be entertaining.

The other isn't out yet (still TBA), but Jump Ship may be worth keeping an eye on. Looks a bit like an improved Pulsar with a bit of Barotrauma mixed in (running around repairing ship components and putting out fires, etc.).

My kids are playing Content Warning, and yes, it's the same vibe as Lethal Company.
Is it as devoid of content as Lethal Company?

Jump Ship tickles my interest for sure.
Oh gods, there's a cooking minigame, sort of like Sea of Thieves, but if you screw it up it can start a fire, which might lead to your ship blowing up.

It does sound quite a bit like a sci-fi gloss of Sea of Thieves but with a somewhat Void Crew style upgradeable ship. It sounds ambitious enough, though, that I'm not going to get hyped up - hopefully it'll be a pleasant surprise when it comes out.

But are their yells and screams like the "this is so fun!" type or are they more like the "this game is so bad I'm being tortured!" kind of yells and screams?

I may give Content Warning the LC treatment this weekend; give it a shot for about an hour and just refund it if it just isn't any good.

"This is so fun" kind of yelling. Which is what their responses are like when playing Lethal Company. So... my kids may be broken. Or we were just Doing It Wrong™.

Probably both.

I'm pretty sure that, without communication breakdowns, you're doing it wrong.

And, whenever jumpship comes out, I'm all for it.

Kinda wondering if I didn't give LC a fair shake. Maybe I'll get around to trying it again at some point.
Apparently the game only "works" if you use the built-in voice chat, because it uses your actual voice to attract enemies. Of course that means you've got a multiplayer game that encourages you to not talk.

I still think it's a game that gets undeserved hype, since the gameplay is really barren and the design is pretty bland.

Yeah, I like the IDEA of Lethal Company, but I just don't think it fits in with our style of co-op. We're loud, we're talking pretty constantly, and we set each other on fire. None of that works within the LC framework.
Except setting each other on fire totally by accident because surely you are the monster.... in fact, I think that is sort of the point... That said, I agree, it isn't exactly the kind of thing that fits how we play.

We have a rabbit hutch and... a single rabbit. The hutch is on the southern side of the bay, near the tower. Catching the rabbit was a bit of a pain. Ran up into the hills and set up some traps but kept catching raccoons instead. Finally caught a rabbit, but can only carry one live rabbit at a time. You hold it in your hand (can't stick it in your pack) and have to hold on to it until you get it into the hutch. So, one rabbit at a time. Placed a tarp tent thing to mark the general area where I placed the traps so we can get back there fairly easily to check them.

WHO STOLE MY RABBIT?

(j/k) -- Logged in to check on the status of the rabbit I had captured and placed in the hutch the other day and it was gone. Zero rabbits in the hutch. It had also turned winter, so I'm kind of wondering if there's a bug that removed the captured rabbit along with all the wild rabbits due to the season. Or if there is just some poorly explained mechanic that wasn't followed... I didn't see any way to "feed" the rabbit or anything like that.

I was on briefly, just long enough for a single day cycle, and it turned to winter with the new day. I didn't find the hutch, so can't confirm if there was a rabbit in it when I logged in, before the wintering.

Yeah, it's kinda over there by the logholders near the zipline on the south-side beach of the bay. Looks like they do need to be fed leaves, so I'm guessing I just starved the poor fella to death. I've logged on a couple of times since then but, as you pointed out, it's been winter and all the rabbits disappear during winter so I haven't been able to catch any more to try again. Will try again when spring comes back.

Also invited a friend onto the server, "el dano", so if you see him around be sure to not eat him.

Me 'n Kelvin went on a grand adventure the past few of days. Went ahead and went into "the big cave" and got the rifle, gold armor, and the artifact thingy there. After that, found the airstrip and was mildly disappointed. There is a broken down plane on the overgrown runway and a maybe a dozen or so suitcases strewn everywhere, but I could have sworn there were some structures/shacks there as well, but there were none. Just a dumb old runway. Also found another "soldier" (merc?) tent outpost but, like there others, nothing cool or exciting. Just a piece of paper saying something about some undefined signal being stronger at some undefined location. Other than that, more wire, rags, solar panels, MREs, etc.. Also visited the OG base. It's still there an fully stocked, even had a Full Greg sitting in the long extinguished fireplace.

By the time I made it back to the bay, winter had finally ended. Made my way back to the traps I had set and finally got another live rabbit. Placed it in the hutch and gave it leaves to eat (there's a small bowl at the bottom of the hutch, aim at it and press "X" to add leaves). Will see if I can keep this one alive.
