I get that sometimes without the FPS unlock. Before running that I think I managed to reolve it by more or less fucking around with every relevant setting in the Nvidia control panel until it went away. :p
Couldn't get the FPS unlock to work, but I discovered that my 2(?) year old purchase of Lossless Image Scaler was still valid. installed it and configured it to run with no actual scaling, and it solved the screen tearing. I did play around with the Frame Gen tech now built into it and it works fine but I'm happier without additional artifacts. Note I was already hitting 60fps native, so your benefits may vary if under.

Oh I should have mentioned, I stopped using the FPS unlocker I linked in some old post and moved over to Flawless Widescreen. I don't actually use the widescreen part of it, but the ER plugin has a bunch of other nice shit like FPS unlock, removing chromatic aberration and FOV increase. You do need to disable EAC for it to work though, all you do is go into the game directory, copy eldenring.exe, then replace start_protected_game.exe with the copy of eldenring.exe.
After that you can just start from Steam as usual, naturally this disables online mode so it's no good if that's important to you. :)

I'm not understanding the difficulty complaints. I've made it to the last boss (fought it once because I didn't realize what I was wondering in to). I've cleared so many bosses and only 3 fights have been more than a handful of tries.

Yes, I use ashes. I also use shields. I think the DLC is hard countering the people who play high damage, low defense, expecting to dodge everything builds who refuse to use ever advantage the game gives you. Also, you have to level with the DLC leveling method to do anything at all.

People seem to be misunderstanding how the scaling works for the DLC, which is where a lot of the complaints come from. It doesn't matter what level you are in there (though you need to have enough vigor to survive), you're basically lvl 1 when you have no scadutree blessings. I'm up to 16 blessings now and it's just now starting to feel like a normal game again.

But man...(late game boss spoiler)
The Radahn fight is kicking my butt. I can get him to phase transition reliably, but I can't survive the second phase long enough to figure out the attack patterns lol.

I couldn't get Flawless widescreen to work with Fullscreen mode (Apparently ER changed its framelimiter code with the DLC?), and I was getting really awful frame pacing in borderless.

I was about to give up, when I found Special K. It's pretty intimidating at first, but it was a game in itself tweaking the settings in real time and watching the framerate, pacing, CPU and GPU utilisation graphs. I managed to get roughly the same smoothness as the base game at fullscreen (plus about 10 frames ~70fps) with improved responsiveness and no screen tear (so far). Yay!

[update] - gave up on Special K (too easy to get lost tweaking things)... I think Elden ring just has unresolvable framepacing issues. Went back to Flawless widescreen+borderless and 75FPS cap, enabling RTX HDR. The htching is still there, but it seems like the best I'll achieve, and the game art/design otherwise looks fantastic, so I'm happy.

I finished this up Sunday and as far as I know only have 1 boss undefeated. Was a pretty good DLC. I hit it pretty hard And got a lot of hours out of it.

Honestly I have no idea the move set of the last boss’s final phase. I was able to shield turtle and poke it to death managing stamina and healing as needed while right up on him letting the shield do its thing most of the phase except when the boss leaves range itself. To tell you the truth, that strat worked for all but two of the bosses in the DLC.

The only boss that gave me any trouble at all was Messmer (which I’m not spoiler tagging since the fancy version comes with a statue of him).

They even made shields even stronger than before by having one with a guard boost of 90 vs the 87 of Fingerprint If you’re willing to give up your weapon ash since it’s a somber shield. You can’t customize it like you can Fingerprint, but its non physical defenses are high enough that it doesn’t really matter if you’re playing a tanky build. Once I got it I used it exclusively for the rest of the game. The weapon ash use loss really didn’t matter since as far as I know, no weapon arts allow you to keep the shield up while using them so they’re a liability for that play style anyway.

Now the seamless coop update needs to come out so that my friend and I can get back to our run where we had just killed Renalla.

This! Go get those tree fragments, people. I was stuck at Rellana and had to bypass her using the shortcut until it finally entered my thick head that I should get more fragments. At blessing level 6 she was just ... difficult. Also the hippo basically one-two shot me at 3 and died on first try at 6.

Found Messmer. Ow.
Oww indeed

I had to switch equips from turtle dude to rolly boi styles and pumped up flame resist. Cold worked pretty good too

I pretty much either instantly died or did really well depending on how mean he was feeling and if I could get a spirit going. Beat him third time I made it past the cut scene

I have killed the final boss. Only took about 60 tries and two respecs. I would highly recommend not summoning cooperators because his health pool gets quite chunky (spirits are fine).
Just beat him in ~10 tries

I had Ansbach as my summon and usually he did good damage without getting splatted too quickly. Me, myself, and him could melt the health bar quick enough to be worth it.
Try #7 I managed to get him down to a hit or two left and got hugged to death. Try #8 I had him down to a sliver but his orbital ion cannon ignored my block. #9 confirmed that you just cant block that

#10 I backpedaled just enough for him to whiff his grab* and successfully panick rolled through the WMD and managed to finish him.

*but boy this DLC has some cheap grabs. One time I did a jumping R2 onto a fly guy that took over half his health and I was grabbed before my feet hit the ground

Took me just under 40 hours to do almost everything. Its a lot less content per dollar than the base game and while it was very well done in a lot of ways it feels a bit rushed and confused in others. I'm looking forward to MaatiMovie trying to make sense of the new lore. Definitely a lot of blanks filled in but also some stuff strangely untouched

I'm pretty sure I have all bosses down though I haven't delved into spoiler town too much. I probably missed or goofed a few NPC quests and there is at least one major choice in a quest that would make a replay a bit different so I may go back with my second character after a big update to give it a try

Just picked this up to play on my SteamDeck. Any one else playing there? Just curious if the suspend while game is running doesn't resume gracefully for you as well.

Gameplay wise, never really played a FromSoftware game but read plenty about the dying often so I'm just embracing it. I picked the Samurai as my starting character and because of that I'm getting heavy Onimusha vibes, which I loved.

I don't have a steam deck but keep in mind that you can't pause the game. I'm not sure how well suspension would work unless you are resting at a site of grace or at least exit to the main menu

Just a PSA: in spite of From games looking like they don't have a save game function, they actually do save the current state when you exit the game. So you can stop playing at any time.

They just reset everything when you die, not when you exit because rl calls.

Yeah, the autosaves are also super common. Pretty much everything you do saves immediately (so you can't nope out of the consequences of eg. attacking a merchant).

It now works with the dlc. Version number is 1.7.2. It does require that you remove the old version.
Yeah. Played it yesterday. It's still got a few bugs though. Being able to independently fast travel is nice, but sitting at a grace takes oddly a long time, and there are more state desyncs than existed in the old version. It recovers usually, but it's weird just seeing enemies your partner(s) killed falling over dead as you engage them if you weren't right there when things died.
