I realize it's out of date now and out of fashion, but WSUS is very useful. But you can increase it's value by using
WSUS Package Publisher
Publish third-party applications into your WSUS. Contribute to DCourtel/Wsus_Package_Publisher development by creating an account on GitHub.

WPP is my go to for deployment. For MSI packages, there is nothing easier, if you have WSUS in place.
The main benefit is to deploy MSI files to your users through the Windows update process. It's seamless as far as uses are concerned. Stuff just appears. It's better than GPO deployment as you get some level of reporting, and it's not dependent on the wifi being connected prior to use login.
Over the past decade I've deployed as diverse software as
-Symantec AV and numerous updates
-Adobe reader & updates
-Flash (and flash and flash and ..... It was flash that prompted me to look at other solutions to GPO deployment)
-zscaler
-MS LAPS
-Minecraft education edition and numerous updates.
If you don't have intune but you need to install an msixbundle then you can break it down to a PS1 script and deploy that via Windows updates and WPP
Yes, SCCM can do all this, and more.
Intune is taking over.
But SCCM is overkill.
Intune isn't yet in use full time in my organisation, but it is coming.
Yes, WSUS (And this WPP) has a use by date that is reasonably fast approaching. But it's still useful in it's niche.
