So with the Trump Administration scandal thread now locked, I figured it would be good to start up a new thread, since it's highly doubtful that Private Citizen Trump is even remotely done with his scandals. I figure it might still be good to separate out any of the impeachment related items into that Capitol Assault Aftermath and US Domestic Terrorism thread. I envision this more about the other looming issues, like the potential indictments in New York over various financial issues (porn star payoffs, Trump Organization tax shenanigans, etc.), and possible other charges like interfering with the Georgia elections, or even obstruction of justice during the Mueller investigation.

I don't have anything new to report on either, but let's see how long this thread gets!

My sincere hope is it ends up being more along the lines of "Perpetual Trump Revelations and Consequences Thread" :)! While no doubt there is much to be revealed about all the things he got up to, it'd be nice if nothing new he does is ever particularly consequential ever again, unless "new he does" encompasses prison time. Prison aside, for a narcissist who always fed upon attention and the limelight one of the most fitting things of all would be to have him rapidly fade away from the national consciousness forever, coupled with an exhaustive recording of what happened and as much consequence as is legally feasible to dish out. But while admitting upfront this is unlike, I'd be happy not to see any random crap he does or says given any particular attention no matter how outrageous (though I guess he could still betray top secret information for a years which would be genuinely newsworthy, sigh). Instead I hope to see things like what moves the NYAG and Justice Department make next. But on like, page 2 (or 14) of the newspaper if that makes sense.

Here's hoping he gets kicked out of Mar-a-Lago for illegally occupying it for more than 3 weeks per year.

He'll probably tell Palm Beach "Go ahead and fine me" and refuse to pay the fines, then he'll be sued and he'll countersue etc. and it'll be in the courts till doomsday. Meanwhile he'll be fundraising "for his prospective 2024 campaign" wink wink and the rubes will lap it up and send him their spare change in envelopes, because he's "manly" and "strong." (code for racist authoritarian)

Nah, they'll do the smart thing here and revoke his liquor license, and make sure the distributors adhere to it. Then watch for people trying to hand carry alcohol in and then bust them for selling liquor without a license. Much easier when you hold licenses to operate over their head.

Good point. Maybe there is some hope to be had that he'll get some comeuppance.

I was going to ask "Are there any lawyers left who'll work for Trump?" but then I realised that there's always someone, somewhere who thinks that they're the one who'll get their money from a conman. Of course he'll have lawyers. Some gormless twit like Sekulow will always attach themselves, remora-like, to Trump.

I'll also join the chorus of "I'd like this thread to be revelations and consequences, please." I want to see that justice, or at least consequences, applies to everyone regardless of station. I'm naïve like that.

Popcorn.
Indictments.
Schadenfreude.

This thread better deliver.

This. I'm pleasantly surprised he didn't flee to Russia (yet), and have a flickering spark of optimism that some tiny fraction of the consequences he justly deserves may yet befall him.

The Belgorod is parked just off the coast of Mar-a-Lago :eyebrow:

The idiot base now believes that Trump is now the deep state. And the deep state is good. They've 180'd without even batting a lash.

Death may be the only way to stop them.

Yeah, I read that earlier. That's the thing with conspiracy theories...there's really no way to disprove them if people just up the ante on the craziness of the explanations they can come up with to continue to believe them.

I mean they already did it once when Russia went from being bad to good. I even saw a person wearing one of those "I'd rather be Russian than Democrat" shirts which I guess makes sense since that might have started here in Ohio. But it just shows that their reality is even more malleable than Gumby.

So this wild coincidence just happened to me.

Switched tabs from the Box to Ancestry, got a hit for a marriage announcement for a corollary line. In scanning the OCR of it, I scrolled down too far. On the same page is Trump's great-aunt getting married, and being given away by her brother Fred.

Here's the OCR:

Mais bien sûr!

His virulent animus toward immigration is hard to understand given the fact that his very ancestors were immigrant refugees not more than three generations back. And some of his extended family relatives died in the Holocaust and might not have with a more liberal US immigration policy at the time. But whatever. FYIGM and pull up the ladder behind you, I guess.

The anti-immigration network got their hooks into him. We've all seen the info that he regularly recommended outright white nationalist talking points internally when he was senior advisor; VDARE, InfoWars, American Renaissance, and the like. He's knee-deep in the hoopla.

I'm trying to imagine the depths of misery of the Secret Service staff assigned to protect Trump forever. Sounds like an excellent subject for a new 'Demotivational' poster.

He has his fans. Some of them are in Secret Service. I am sure some of them are more than happy to do it.

That'll tarnish really quickly.
