First three episodes of season 4 dropped yesterday so here is a thread

I'll spoiler the first post but reader beware thereafter

Enjoying it so far and, as someone mentioned in the things you watched thread, they are definitely still turning everything up to 11

Although it feels like so far they are kinda stalling on the plot. A few new characters and side quests plus even more things for Frenchie to ennui about

I haven't really seen anything from the trailer yet so thats a pleasent surprise at least

Was it Urban in that picture?
😱

dupli-penis!
repeat

That was Rob Benedict, another Supernatural alum. Right around the sauna scene, they had this trivia on the pause menu

I think they owed him a lot after that episode!

Homelander finally just says "fuck it" and gets kinda serious about murdering Hughie. Cant really explain why he's held back so many time before.

Sage has regenerative powers (from the previous episodes slide show. So I'm pretty sure she ice picked herself for sufficient stupidity to Netflix and chill

A thought on Firecracker

It seems like Sister Sage is trying to orchestrate Firecracker getting killed by Annie.
Or rile Annie up, which is definitely Mission Achieved at this point

Wait, Sister Sage has regenerative powers?

When I saw the camera move onto the item, I was trying to figure out what it was and then a spoiler YT video let me remember what it was.

Yeah, the Firecracker thing is probably all about getting the appropriate groups to be even more active against the Seven, which is always played up as the hyper-patriots Murika group, obviously. They are against Homelander already, which lets the base hate them but it'll be even more, now. Anyone "against" them is spun as a commie pinko libtard type. It'll also increase the likelihood of violent encounters, or at least orchestrated ones, and that can be worked to the Seven's favor.

Overall, I laughed a lot... they aren't pulling any punches or attempting to be subtle with the satire this season. I'm betting a lot of Right Wing people in the USA are going to be upset that The Boys "just went woke"... like the X-Men, Star Trek, Greenday, etc.

Already been seeing this for about a week on a couple meme sites. The usual right wingers are posting about how it’s going the “woke” route of The Witcher to how ugly the new actress for Starlight is.

New actress for Starlight? I guess if someone is posting that kind of comment then that sure seems like a good indicator for saying they don't watch the show without saying they don't watch the show.

Of course it wouldn't surprise me if once it became super obvious that Homelander is not the good guy (which honestly was established in S1) that they stopped watching. Sure there's a lot of gray in the show, like The Boys not really being traditional good guys, but the trajectory of Homelander has certainly never felt that gray or unambiguous.

Edit: Yeah if they are confusing Firecracker and Starlight they obviously aren't watching the show and are just reporting stuff from others.

Clearly they weren't paying enough attentions seasons 1-3

New actress? Starlight is the same acrtress (Erin Moriarty)? Or do they mean the one playing Firecracker?
In either case they would be wrong. The Firecracker character might be intended to look a bit unflattering but Valorie Curry seems nice enough

I saw something about this a few months ago... I don't know if true but the rumor is that supposedly Erin Moriarty had some sort of plastic surgery that pulls in her cheeks so her cheekbones are more prominent now and her cheeks are sort of sunken. Maybe that's what they're seeing.

Not according to her.

It erupted over her getting her makeup done for an event.
Personally I haven't noticed any difference and it really shouldn't matter

People's faces do change over time

Also her character is at a bit of low point this season so the change in demeanor alone will give you a different impression

Full disclosure: I don’t watch the show. Read the comics and have the TPB’s still, but I generally dislike gratuitous gore in live action. It’s why I couldn’t get into the Fallout series either. I have seen enough of it in my life, I don’t need to see it in my media to. Just reporting of the (stale) memes people use to bitch about insert popular media here.

A lot of people though that Mother's Milk was recast but the actor, Laz Alonso, just hit the gym, lost a bunch of weight, and changed up his facial hair between seasons.

Yeah, I wondered about that at first, too, but then I figured out that he's the same. Good on him... he did a lot of work.

As a slight tangent, in the show Sense8, one of the actors was recast. One of the minor characters (who hadn't been recast), commented that the main character looked different. Main character said he had gotten a haircut, and then it was never mentioned again. Rather amusing way to note that there was a recast.

When seeing something with Antony in it speaking with his normal voice always makes me stumble in remembering who he plays on the show. Also feel like because the character is basically always wearing his uniform seeing him in regular clothes adds a bit to me being confused for a bit about his character.

How do the seasons compare? I'm playing season 1 in the background and finding it mediocre. I find it decent, but not groundbreaking like reviewers would say.

Do later seasons divert from the formula in season 1? Should I keep going?

Each season builds on the previous ones. If you just skip ahead, you will likely miss a bit of continuity.

The human centipede was the most perfect description of the MAGA movement ever. I've taken to calling them Pinkeyes on SM and hope it catches on.
Technically that was just masturbation! But yeah "pinkeyes" is hilarious but, sadly, cutesy

Youtube has been suggesting to me lately a lot of Mortal Kombat videos. Apparently the newest one has Homelander and Omni Man (from Invincible). The banter is pretty good actually though sadly due to game balance reasons they have to be roughly equal in game

Personally I'd bet on Omni Man. While Homelander's powers are superficially more like Super Man's, I think Omni Man is a far more dangerous warrior and closer to the Kryptonian invulnerability of their inspiration.

(granted Super Man was usually as strong and invincible as called for by the plot so its hard to compare exactly)

Does it Vought style finishing moves like in episode 3?

Decent episode but I'm really feeling like they are starting to drag the status quo out just a bit. We've got a lot of characters confronting their past in four episodes.

Edit: Also they finally got me. I had to skip past the lobotomy scene
Yeah, I had trouble with that bit as well. I kept telling myself that none of this was real, it was all special effects .. but damn they're good special effects.
