I got into the Warframe closed beta recently and I've been enjoying it immensely. From the sounds of the Random Gaming Thoughts thread, a lot of you have, too. Well, the NDA was lifted recently, so now we're free to talk about everything that's been released to the client so far.
Since a 30 minute video at 60 fps is worth roughly 108,000,000 words depending on how consistent the framerate is, here's a simple rundown of the game basics from TotalBiscuit. He misses a couple things, but it's a good overview of how the game generally plays. If you're behind a firewall, the game is a free to play third person action shooter with four player co-op, more of a melee/mobility/superpower focus, and no sticky cover system.
While I know there's a lot of planned content that hasn't been implemented yet, I think this game presents a great argument for solid mechanics being able to carry a game above all else. Level variety is currently limited and the story is bare-bones, yet I'm still compelled to play because it's just so much fun. The combat is fluid and challenging enough that all other complaints fall to the wayside in favor of being a bad motherfucker. Unique enemies require a change in strategy and focus fire to take down efficiently. Objectives and environmental obstructions can change and help mix up the flow as you play through each level. Get a couple friends together and you'll end up wondering where your night went before you know it.
It's not above some of the usual F2P transgressions. They do equipment right - every weapon and warframe is obtainable without paying a dime, but it'll require a significant time investment to get the big stuff without paying. Warframes require their schematics to be found or bought first. They require 3 specific parts to be built. Each part must be crafted from randomly dropped schematics that each require 3 rare components. It's a significant time sink due in no small part to the randomness of drops. You'll be farming a lot unless you cough up a few bucks.
All in all, though, it's a very promising game. It offers engaging co-op reminiscent of Mass Effect 3's multiplayer mode for free, minus the everything button and plus a significant amount of freedom both in mobility and mission structure. The devs are active with the community and adjust gameplay based on reasonable feedback. I can't wait to see what they've got in store to add before release. If you love co-op, you should get in on this action as soon as you can.
If you ended up becoming a master or grandmaster founder, be sure to drop by the development discussion section of the Warframe forums and vote on stuff. They're only letting us decide fairly trivial things at the moment, but seeing what new material is coming down the pipe before it's available is still cool.
Completely deprecated stuff:

Current Arsian Robo Samurai Space Ship Invader List is located here. Use the referral link roulette at the top to get some free stuff when you create a new account!
If you create an account using one of the referral links, you'll get a 7 day credit and XP booster (each of which double your gains). It'll make that early slog through the boring starter weapons go a lot quicker.
Also it gives us old players kickbacks in the form of free inventory slots and stuff, but we're totally doing it just to help newbies with purely altruistic goals.
...and if you're a clan member and are looking for prime parts, look no further than the Stockpile Prime! Thanks randolph.wang!
