/// OFFICIAL MODERATION NOTICE ///

The Division 2 has been activated for everyone as of March 15th, and has some significant changes. Discussion in the D1 thread started here.

RPS has a 15 minute video showing off some gameplay from the endgame :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttuQpITucpM&t

Discussion of whether to buy the Year 1 Season pass starts here

Ubi have also produced a nice infographic explaining the character and gear progression.

In-game Ars Clans:
PC: ArsTechnica, tag ARS
PS4: ArsTechnica, tag ARS
Xbox: Ars Agentia [ARS]

Player spreadsheet is HERE - use the correct TAB for PC, Xbox or PS4. Also update the "Division 2" column.

Make sure your name is on the correct tab if you're looking to join the ars clan.

Any clan member can use the in-game message feed to schedule a group session, or you can use AnejoDave's suggestion: https://www.the100.io/groups/11533

There is also an in-game clan chat (type / on PC to bring it up) if you want some help from whoever's online.

I'm very interested in learning how folks decide who to play with in the Division.

I'm interested because I play games like this to play with friends - fellow arsians and some RL folks. I'm very interested in pulling folks together in TD2 and running around doing /whatever/ as a group.

Killing HVTs? Lets do this as a group
running dailys - Lets do this with Arsians
Repelling an invasion? - Definitely want Arsians here

How can I encourage The PC TD2 players who read this post to play together?

would the100.io help? Its essentially a Game Activity scheduler. https://www.the100.io/groups/1012 (link to the PS4 Division group that I know is active so you can start to see what its like)
What else might do it?
a Slack Channel on the ArsClan Slack?
there's the Player Spreadsheet - the PC tab has been updated to include a TD2 column. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

All the videos/reports of DZ cheating in the Private Beta (which shouldn't be all that surprising since it's the same engine as D1 letting the cheats just "drop in") pretty much solidified that I will be going with the XB1 version instead of PC.

You would think that them including "easy anti-cheat" in D2 would have blocked some of those and at least detected debugers/cheatengine being attached to the exe. I though that most of the "cheating" was ppl exploiting the new rogue agent mechanics like the cheesy bastards they are. Any evidence of actual hax? I did not encounter anything that I would attribute to hacking when playing the beta, just a lot of cheesy crap as the moment you stop cutting the extraction cord, you are no longer rogue, or starting/stopping sealing from loot boxes to toggle rogue/not-rogue and team gank ppl exploiting the ability to drop rogue status the moment you are losing.

Worked well for me last time.

In other news, I was really glad to hear this:

Sniper and shotgun stagger are being addressed (as in being removed). The negatives on mods are being toned down to make sure its not a 0 sum game to mod weapons.

Oh... that's just adorable. ;) It's hard to tell if you're being sarcastic here or if you really think these anti-cheat programs aren't routinely bypassed.

Any evidence of actual hax?
None that I encountered personally since I mostly avoided the DZ, but I've seen screenshots and GIFs of people taking thousands of points of damage and not losing health (a common Division 1 cheat) as well as warping.

Aye it was sarcasm alright, as most of this protection is a chocolate fireguard to those with enough skill to bypass and intelligence to avoid triggering server side value checkers. I can see various threads on the net about straight porting D1 hacks over to D2 with minimal work required. However. the same forums are full of users who have been banned due to triggering D1's server side value checking and having to create new accounts and buy the game over, and over, and over.

I will definitely be playing a ton of this game. I'm still playing D1, well, not as much now that a couple of other games just came out today, but I get all my shields done so no biggie. There's a clan system this time around, don't know a whole lot about it since it wasn't active in beta, but I'm not seeing a ton of interest here so I dunno what will happen in regards to that around Ars. I'll be playing on PC myself, and I can't recall the last time I actually ram into someone using hacks in the first game, and didn't in the beta either. Not doubting anyone's reporting though, I know they're out there. Only thing that sucks is I'll be away from home during the release, and probably won't get to play until the 22d or 23d :(

The 100.io is fine but I may be dropping and out at times, depending on how busy I am.

If anyone is looking to get this game and doesn't mind using uplay, I have3 16% vouchers for greenmangaming.com. It doesn't look like it works for the ultimate edition, but it did for the gold edition for me.

Thanks - used that one. Went for the base game on PC as there isn't much detail on what the Year 1 pass includes beyond the cosmetics.

It seems all pre-orders (even for the base game) get a free game - Ghost Recon Wildlands, Far Cry Primal or Watch Dogs 2. Anyone played any of these? Ghost Recon sounds like it's more of a co-op game than solo.

Nice, yeah I was debating it but the dlc was good for the division so I figured I would take a chance.

Out of the three I played Ghost Recon Wildlands and it was fun even playing solo with the AI squadmates. The gameplay style is similar to crackdown in that you take on bosses of a area to take apart a cartel.

I really enjoyed the first The Division and ended up pre-ordering The Division 2 Ultimate Edition on Epic Games. Had fun in the Private Beta when that was live. I didn't go super far into it just cause I know I'll be replaying it when it goes live. Runs great, still love the cover system/combat in the game. Looking forward to getting a free copy of Ghost Recon Wildlands, as I enjoyed that games open beta before release and came close a few times to buying it when its been on sale. Glad I held out.

Why is everyone ordering it on the Epic store? You can get it on Uplay and you need to have Uplay installed to play it anyway.

At least buying it on GMG is a bit cheaper than on Uplay directly, even without the coupons Nulls posted. AFAIK, any Uplay games purchased through a non-Ubi source (other than steam) can be launched directly from Uplay - no need for the non-Ubi launcher.

[edit] correction - only games purchased through steam have to be downloaded through it.

Epic has been giving away some good games for free, and I already have all the game stores installed on my PC so I threw them a bone.

/edit

as thegrommit mentioned doesn't really matter where you buy it from, you just end up launching from the Ubisoft store anyways. Just like past Ubisoft games I got off steam cheap, don't have to have steam loaded to play them, just uplay.

A big new information dump about specializations:

https://division.zone/2019/02/22/more-i ... confirmed/

https://division.zone/the-division-2/sp ... rvivalist/

https://division.zone/the-division-2/sp ... litionist/

https://division.zone/the-division-2/sp ... rpshooter/

The different build trees and being able to generate specialist ammo for your teammates is very reminiscent of Supers and Orbs of Light in Destiny. Seems like it could bring an interesting new dimension to the game. The rumor is there might actually be three more specializations released after launch as well.

The game director said more news about the season pass would be out next week.

Details of the Open Beta (as in open to everyone) are out - pre-load begins on Feb 28th.

https://tomclancy-thedivision.ubisoft.c ... -open-beta

Sounds like a lot of content for a four-day beta.

They did add a new zone so it does contain slightly more content than the Private Beta and the technical tests but at this point I'm worried about burning out on it prior to release. I'm already sold on it and unless there are some serious issues that haven't already been in the previous tests I think I'll just skip this weekend.

Now to decide whether I want to take the release week off work or learn from my experiences from TD1 and not bang my head against a queue for a computer for the first day :p

I think at this point I am pretty sold on picking up the game based on the fun I had with Division 1 and what they have shown so far.

The main big decision I'm trying to make is what version of the game to get. With all the content drops being included in the base game, the season pass doesn't look to add much outside getting to play the content a few days early.

I am going to wait and see what details Massive puts out this week about the Season Pass, then make a decision on which version to buy.

There is going to be a State of the Game Livestream tomorrow (11AM AT / 8AM PT)

https://tomclancy-thedivision.ubiso...062/state-of-the-game-returns-to-the-division

Good chance we will get the details on the season pass and maybe some more details on additional specializations in the game. The last theory I read was there will be more than 3 specializations at launch (6 to 9?). People are speculating the Specialization trees will be unlocked by shade tech after the first "free" one at max level. So non season pass owners might have to do missions to collect SHD to unlock the Specs while pass owners would get them directly.

I am glad they are making a system where everyone gets all the content without splitting the community based on who bought a Season Pass or Expansion, I just hope they come up with a plan that doesn't feel punishing or un-fun for non pass owners. Have to see tomorrow.

While watching the info roll in, one key issue kept jumping out at me: they are contradicting themselves with this announcement.

At E3 and with various news announcements since then it has always been stated that all future content will be available to everyone with the purchase of the base game. However, now they announce:

Over the course of Year 1, Pass holders will have exclusive access to 8 Classified Assignments, which will provide more story behind the events leading to your arrival in D.C.

This means that there will be content that only the season pass holders get to see or run.

While I get that it is difficult to provide content to justify having a season pass I think they need to go back and look at what they have promised and find an alternative for this. Edit: looking over everything they seem to have stated that the episodes would be free and nothing about anything else. So I guess there's a pretty big loophole there.

Disclaimer: I just got the refund through for my Gold Edition and will be picking up the Ultimate Edition tomorrow so I decided to go with the season pass anyway, it's just a slippery slope that I don't want to see them on.

VidX, yeah good point. Would be nice if they let everyone play those "Story" missions and just have the cosmetic reward exclusive to the pass holders. Not sure if the promise was that all "End Game Content" would be available to everyone, not all content, but yeah I'd prefer they not lock anyone out.

Still better than people being locked out of recurring game modes and expansions without a pass.

Overall they seems to be striking a really solid balance and learning from their competition and making their own improvements. I see a lot of the system changes Destiny 2 Forsaken made reflected in their revisions. I guess the last big question is how punishing the "Shade Tech Grind" is going to be and what all it will be used for. Much of the season pass value is saving spending SHD (Ultimate Edition stash also saves spending SHD), so might be an incentive to make gaining it a bit slow.

I do wonder how many of the "preorders" are the free copies you get when buying an AMD product. I got two free copies building a new PC for my daughter recently, one for the Ryzen processor and one for the RX590

Incidentally, I'll be playing this on PC at least to give it a shot, possibly with my daughter if she's interested.

I just saw that on Newegg this morning.. tempted to 'buy' The Division 2 and get a Ryzen 2600 'for $100 more'..

I'll definitely have to check this Beta out, as I'm concerned about the repetitiveness/spongyenemies I'd heard about the Division 1.

Sent a bunch of friend requests on uplay to everyone who indicated they're interested in TD2 PC on the player spreadsheet. I'll be giving this a go over the weekend, and exploring how the clan system works**

Remember to update the "Division 2" column if you're interested - a few people on this thread haven't, and I don't want to spam people who aren't interested.

** As I'm primarily a PvE/solo player, happy for someone else to be the clan administrator once the full game is released.
