Did an oopsy, pulled a ribbon cable out wrong... fixable?

I'm regooping my gpu after it started overheating and artifacting. Hopefully it's just the gpu itself and not the RAM, VRMs or whatever, because accessing those would require even more scary disassembly...

Anyway the card has a little ribbon cable that connects an OLED display on the top of the fan housing, and I had to disconnect this. However, the plug thing didn't come out, just the ribbon. The plug thing is tiny AF though, and I can't really see if the cable goes into it, or just under it... I think it just wedges in to hold the ribbon in place.

Attached are big pics so you can tell me if this should be easy and I'm making a big fuss, or if I just have to shrug and live without the OLED display (not that I ever really made use of it, but it's a cool feature).

I can't see any signs of it being damaged, or the socket, but I cannot get it to go "in" by itself or on top of the ribbon. It's really tiny and fiddly, on the limits of my eyesight, never mind my fat fingers...

Is this something easily fixed in an appropriate workshop/service center? It's not the end of the world if the OLED doesn't work, but it is annoying and if I wanted to sell the card it would definitely knock a chunk off the value.

Can anyone even tell which way up that black bail should go?

Got the bail back in, not sure how tight it is. But now can't get the ribbon to go in. Also, the electrical contacts on the ribbon are underneath, bu the ribbon slides in under the contacts in the white socket... =/

It looks like it is a pull/rotate version. Pull the bail (black) out, then rotate up. That will generate enough space to put the flex cable under the bail. The rotate the bail down and push it back.

w00t! Got it fixed.

After sleeping on it, I tried a change of tack and tried just fitting the bail without the ribbon inserted first. Not having the ribbon in the way made a big difference. I tried pushing it in at an angle and eventually it just sort of went in =/ And then I could see it stayed in, and hinged up and down without coming out. After that I just had to wedge the ribbon cable in firmly and hinge it shut and - voila! - the ribbon is in and retained.

What a ballache! At least I know what to do next time.
