Duplicate incoming mails... why?

Hi!

Having a problem "recently" (several months) where I see 2 exactly identical mail back-to back in my inbox. Its not all mails. I have asked the senders if they did someting special or sent to moree than one email - but no, just to one address... I have - I have checked in raw - exactly ever y character is the same.

After a while (several hours) one of them disappears. Common is that when I select any of them, the Unread blue dot wont go away. It sits like unread even if I did open and read it.

After say maximum 24 hours, no duplicates persist without any action from me.

Why/how can this be?

Client: Mail.app (Sonoma: Version 16.0 (3774.500.171.1.1))
Servers: Happens on both Apple (mac.com) and One.com servers
Platform: MacOS / Macbook.

One more feature of the mails that duplicate: Looking at a mail, in this case the subscription for answer to my post.. it has a "To" information item:

to.jpg

If I click that, I see 2 different email addresses, why? (one via mac.com and one via one.com)

(All duplicates has double To addresses, but not all mails with double To: was duplicated...)

Mails sent to me via both one.com and mac.com end up as (temporary) duplicates in my inbox. Only one mail was originally sent - I have checked that with the senders. One of the duplicates is actually set as read, but not the second. Also, note that the first part of body text is absent in the later incoming duplicate.... all very strange...
