Distributed computing on old Macs

There are some clients for non 64 bit Intel and even G4 CPUs, but are there any projects that work with those clients?

I know it is a waste of electricity to run an old G4 but I have a room in the celler that need a little bit of heat. So if I have to put in a small radiator I might as well fire up my G4 tower

Folding@home should run on any Intel CPU with SSE2.1 or above, 64 bit is not required. (it will run better with AVX-256, but that is a higher bar)

I got my macmini 1.1 with a 1.66 GHz dual core (not 64 bit) up and running. yoyo@home works. I tried Einstein but that would not work. Time to set up that 1.2 GHz G4, that is old enough to vote

I doubt anyone is still issuing work units for PPC hardware...

Yes.
Years ago, the OpenCL support in OSX was 'odd'.
By the time they got that sorted out, most macs used Intel iGPUs.

Now it is just inertia.
