The Peter Principle is an observation that the tendency in most organizational hierarchies, such as that of a corporation, is for every employee to rise in the hierarchy through promotion until they reach a level of respective incompetence.

In my team, Ars Technica Egg Roll, I have risen to 4th, in Folding@Home as a whole, I have risen to 1360th. Both seem to be as far as I rise. Now I am just an incompetent target for some young gun.

Since 2/3/09 I have earned 452,605,253 Points doing 156,442 Work Units, that will grow, but without a infusion of hardware I don't need, I won't be passing any active folders.

I have been Folding for the last 11 years 2/3/09 The Executive Director at my employer had 55 of her PCs folding as me. I retired in 2016 and am down to 16 clients. (8 in my House)

In about 9 days I will have completed 500,000,000 points
Last month was the first month I completed 18,000,000 points. It was cold, long, and I had all my best hardware. If I had high end modern hardware I might do 75,000,000 a month per PC.
I am about 2 months from completing 160,000 Work Units.

I am in third place in my team; there is no chance I will make second place in the next 2.5 years.
Overall I am over 1300th place and holding steady. Those new graphics cards are killer.
About 852,000 people have tried Folding so far, but only about 4,350 are still active. It is a hobby for your computer, not for you.

So I am making new totals, but not gaining on other people.
Folding@Home results are in the Public domain and used in medical research; my computers are doing science, I am not. I just pay the electric bill.

I had a 1.1 million Point day!
05.03.20 1,179,177 points 47 Work Units

Over all I have slipped to 1326, Folding@Home has about 10 times as many folders as February. Team Egg Roll has 339 active folders, 15 of which are gaining on me. (this is good, More Science!)

GTX 1060 6 gb 400k PPD
GTX 1650 LP 300k PPD
GTX 1050 ti LP 200k PPD

All those are running Core_22 Work Units, when F@H goes back to Core_21 expect a 20% drop. (All COZVID-19 projects are new, the existing projects are older and mostly on hold)

and 7 elderly Intel CPU from 1,000 to 8,000 PPD (3 use SSE2, and 4 use avx_256)

Previously, I had never achieved 19M PPM, this month I got 27.5M Points!

I bought a Low Profile GTX 1650 (so far as I know, the strongest card I can get Low Profile) in late March, but May is when I was getting consistent WUs every time I finished the last one. So 31% more points!

With a giant influx of new volunteers, I am about 30th on the Egg Roll team in PPW, so we are doing great as a team!

About 852,000 people have tried Folding so far, but only about 4,350 are still active.
That was February 2020, pre-COVID-19.
On Team Egg Roll, I am about 28th in Points Per Week, though still third in total points, in 1.4 years I will past second place currently, but by then, I will be passed by 6 other volunteers on my team. (I bought a GTX 1650 to combat COVID-19)

In the big picture, I have fallen to 1376 and am dropping steadily.

Currently 88,102 volunteers are actively folding You may see wild claims that Folding@Home has seen 20x growth, it is not all hype.

If you measure output, F@H went from about 25,000,000 Points Per Week to a peak of 325,000,00 PPW in mid May to 290,000,000 PPW currently, so about 12x.

You can be proud of humanity and especially your fellow Arsians.

I just had a 51M Points Per Month. Not due to new hardware, but newer software. My previous high Month was 38.88M PPM.

Core_a8 is a minor improvement on SSE2 and AVX hardware, but supports AVX2, for a 67% gain in Points (Haswell or later and Zen)
Core_22 has recently added CUDA support on Nvidia hardware, (since Kepler) for about a 50% gain in Points.

Sadly, only 8 Arsians are still gaining on me. Over all I am 1,424, so still sinking in the ratings. (Once the new generation graphic cards reach real humans, I will sink faster, I have two GTX 1650 LP cards and a GTX 1060, so I am aging out.

wh1tw0lf, hutchm, dermott, CatKiller, Caradoc, mcco0420, and davidbrown are still doing more science than I am.

wh1tw0lfa and hutchm will pass me before I pass suicidebiker, one of two Arsians currently ahead of me. dermott, CatKiller, and Caradoc will pass me before I pass Ancient, the other Arsian ahead of me. (assuming he and I get no new hardware in the next 4.7 years)

There are about 48448 active folders, 146 are in Team Eggroll

Folding Duration 12 years 2/3/2009
Team rank 3 (and dropping)
Project rank 1536 (and dropping)
Average daily Points 1.7 million
Average monthly Points 51 million
Total Points 912,329,361
Total Work Units 172,972

I am currently the 12th most productive member of Team Egg Roll. I am gaining on 2, and 12 members are gaining on me of 3915 members.

I started on a AMD Duron (Applebred) and a AMD HD 2900 Pro.
Currently, my most productive PC is a Intel i5 (Haswell) with a Nvidia GTX 1060 then two Intel Sandy Bridge i3s each with a Low Profile Nvidia GTX 1650. I have 6 laptops folding with older Intel CPUs all are on Windows 10, 2 of which are 32 bit.

^super good effort!

To put that in perspective, I've intermittently folded since 2005 and only have 137 million points total. 900 million+ is really amazing. Yesterday and today I broke 2 million points in a day for the first time (using a pair of gaming PCs), and will be folding with just a Ryzen 3600 + RTX 2060 from tonight onward.

I calculate that the electricity costs me about AUD$2.50/day (about USD$2), but this seems like a more ethical use than bitcoin mining and the hardware would otherwise sit around doing very little most of the time.

That is great work. I've folded in essentially 3 different eras, the early days (which is why I have 36,000+ wu's), at about the advent of the graphics card era on a corporate server pharm with advmethods and bigunits (which got me in team top ten at the time), and the last two weeks on a RTX 2060 in which I have amassed 19 million points, or 10% of my total. If nothing else, its a good demonstration of Moore's law, point inflation, whatever you want to call it.

Sometime last night I went by 1,000,000,000 points, now at 1,000,448,778.

On the downside, I am currently fourth in the team and still headed down.

Congrats! Remember though the addition of just one really nice GPU would make you team top producer. Since F@H rewards points based on actual calculations done, is a forever project, and Moore's law will continue to hold true for awhile, you're never really out of it.

I have a trio of HP Elite 8200 SFF PCs.
The snazziest GPU that is Low Profile, PCI-E powered, and double wide is the GTX 1650. (500,000 PPD each) If they make a Low Profile RTX 3050 at 60 watt TDP, that may be an upgrade. There is no hint that any other 'modern' GPU meets my PCs demands.*

I am never top dog in Team Egg Roll, I count on simply never quitting. (over 175,000 WUs)

*You can slip a new GPU in an existing case without the wife noticing.

Burned-- congrats!!!!

Never thought I'd see this day, especially not at a paltry 1.8M Gnodes for the day.

And I passed hutchm for 1st place on Team Egg Roll (Folding@Home) and I'm now sitting at #1,281 for the project. Amazing how a current gen vid card or two can vault one up the rankings.
I know! My RTX 3060 Ti brings in more PPD on a unit that's been sitting for a while than my 1070 Ti ever did, and when it's crunching on a newish work unit it's making well above 3 million PPD. It doesn't take long at all to make a truly staggering amount of points, especially compared to the old CPU-only clients.
