So if you're a developer or have access to one. My quick google search brought up this.

But what you're looking for are projects that Present NFC as a Keyboard. And even if you get it to present as keyboard you need a software layer to pick out the information you want. Or make custom hardware with the software interpreter that then just outputs the data you want. Do not search for HID and NFC or RFID. As HID is a major supplier of door keycards that also have NFC tech as their lineup. So searching for HID with NFC will poison your searches. Even though normally you can search for HID and USB and get what you want.

And all of the above is i know what to look for but i don't have the skill or knowledge to actually do any of it. I deal with off the shelf products. Barcode scanning is moving to RFID so i had to dabble in some of i but didn't bother going forward as the equipment cost off the shelf is astronomically high for what it really does.

I was using USB HID as “human interface device”, but I agree using the acronym is causing result noise.

I did find an affordable CIR315A based reader from GoToTags, I can’t just use it as keyboard input. I have explored and I am looking a pcscd to see if it can help. I’ve also explored libnfc, but that hasn’t panned out for me on the Pi or my Mac, so I’ve abandoned that avenue.
