A spammer/spambot came in an overran the forum for about an hour last night and while yours truly was cleaning up the mess, it appears that I deleted a piece of Ars A/V history. Yes, the Perpetual Photo thread.

Here's a new one. Have at it folks.

(In the meantime, I'll see what I can do about getting the old one restored. Doubtful, but I'll see.)

Ok so since the old Accessory thread was accidentally deleted I'll ask my question again. Anyone have recommendations for a good quality M Mount adapter for my Sony A6000? Preferably with infinity focus and won't have any problems with Leica Screw Mount to M adapters. Thanks!

Also to open with some pictures:

FotodioX if you don't care about crop factor. They guarantee infinity focus. I have them for my X-T1 and they are solid. If you want a focal reducer, then metabones speed booster which will gain you a stop of light while maintaining its original focal length. Novaflex also makes adapters and they are good as well. FotodioX has the best price while any speed booster is gonna be much more expensive.

That explains why I got moonshark'd when I try to open that tab this morning; oh well.

I'm really digging my new (to me) Tokina 11-16mm for getting shots trackside. I wish the higher end was larger than 16mm, but I will deal with it for now by just swapping to the big lens instead.

Wait, which thread is this supposed to be? Is it the Perpetual Photography Thread (i.e. post photos and critiques), or is it the Perpetual Photo Accessories Thread (i.e. all photography gear, including the cameras themselves)? I think it was a pretty good idea to separate them.

I was thinking this was the accessory thread, but on reflection, both threads (photo and photo gear) got nuked?

I would agree that two separate threads would be better.

I hope it can be recovered, if nothing else for posterity since IIRC it was actually the second photography thread. The first thread overflowed some posting/page limit on phpBB and had to be locked.

Oh well, third times the charm, right.

The zitting cisticola or streaked fantail warbler (Cisticola juncidis), is widely distributed Old World warbler whose breeding range includes southern Europe, Africa (outside the deserts and rainforest), and southern Asia down to northern Australia. A small bird found mainly in grasslands, it is best identified by its rufous rump, lacks any gold on the collar and the brownish tail is tipped with white. During the breeding season, males have a zigzagging flight display accompanied by regular "zitting" calls that has been likened to repeated snips of a scissor. They build their pouch nest suspended within a clump of grass.

Holy fuck! The old thread can not possibly be a permanent loss. I seriously call into question the inability to restore the thread.

Maybe I'm the only one who would look back at old posts, but that was of pages of QUALITY material ...just gone.

Christ those posts look similar!

And some people really took a hit on post count, not that the number matters. Here's a before and after of one of my favorite posters in the old thread:

The rufous-backed kingfisher (Ceyx rufidorsa) is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is found in Brunei, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand in tropical lowland forests near lakeshores and streamsides. The small bird is solitary and hunts from a low perch over the water by diving for insects and frogs. It is sometimes considered a subspecies of the Oriental dwarf kingfisher.

Finally got some film developed and scanned. I'm about ready to start processing my own at home, but I don't have a decent scanner and I haven't tried to build a DSLR rig yet because I also don't have a macro lens. I'll figure it out soon.

It took a lot of calibration and some trial and error, but I managed to get my film scanner working. The previous version of this photo was scanned by Dunwoody Photo, and their version captured more fine detail than I could manage, but I feel like I captured more of the color in the film. Looking forward to trying this with black and white to see how happy I am. I'd like to eventually build a DSLR scanning rig, but I'm not there yet, and I don't want the expense of a better film scanner either, so being able to use what I have is awesome, and it was the last thing stopping me from doing black and white at home.
